Each month two members are recognized by JFK Key Club for demonstrating the four core values of Key Club and going above and beyond member expectations. At Division Council Meetings, the division also recognizes outstanding clubs based on service hours, funds raised, and meetings held.

CLASS OF 2018
WHY DID YOU JOIN? // I joined Key Club to make new friends and to serve the community, it is what I enjoy to do when I am free.
HOW HAVE YOU CHANGED OVER THE TERM? // I have made tons of new friends just in 1 year which was amazing because we were all like ohana. At first, I just had my boyfriend with me all the time, but now we both have made friends along the way, so we felt welcomed.
IF YOU WERE AN INSTRUMENT? // I would be a piano because it has many sounds to it and I feel like I have many expressions and attitude. Once you get to know me, I change from a quiet to a loud/weird person.
INTERESTING FACT? // I was a one of the starting 5 in basketball, sophomore year (shocking) and I played badminton (also shocking). Also, I took karate class and piano lessons.
FAVORITE CELEBRITY? // My favorite celebrity would be Kevin Hart because he is funny, making everyone laugh. He is himself and isnt afraid to be himself, which is why he is my favorite. He doesnt really censor himself, so it gives the true vibe of Kevin Hart.

WHY DID YOU JOIN? // I joined Key Club because I wanted to be able to meet new people and be able to spend time with my friends through helping our community.
HOW HAVE YOU CHANGED OVER THE TERM? // Throughout the course of being in Key Club, I have changed because now, I believe that I am more fond of helping my community through volunteering in Key Club and other extracurricular activities I am in. Not only that, Key Club has also helped me get out of my comfort zone and also helped me make new friends.
IF YOU WERE AN INSTRUMENT? // If I was a type of instrument I would be a Cello because I have a good eye for art and always manage to put together things that seems pleasing to the eye. (wut)
INTERESTING FACT? // One interesting fact about myself would be that I like photography. I like to be able to capture moments that someone will be able to remember in the future.
FAVORITE CELEBRITY? // My favorite celebrity would be Emma Watson because I love all the films that she is in and also, she uses her fame for good causes such as denouncing the inequalities of genders.

WHY DID YOU JOIN? // I joined Key Club because I have always loved to volunteer, I just could never find a way to do it. So, when my friends told me about Key Club and what their mission was, I'm not gonna lie, I was hesitant, but eventually with a push and a nudge from my friends I joined. To me volunteering is not something that should not come with a grand award. Instead, to me volunteering is about the experience and working on myself and the others around me.
HOW HAVE YOU CHANGED OVER THE TERM? // I have not been in Key Club that long, but I can say that I enjoy make connections and talking to people more. I feel like with the amount of experience that I have gotten so far I have grown into a more welcoming and helpful person. And I have noticed that I have been working harder to maintain good grades because if I don't I lose my opportunity at helping other around me.
IF YOU WERE AN INSTRUMENT? // I feel like I could be a Tenor Saxophone because of how flexible it is. Just like a Tenor sax I can have high energy when needed and I can be more serious when required to be. Tenor Saxophones can also be used in many different art forms like jazz, classical, hip hop, and so many more and I think that fits me too. I can do anything that's asked of me. Even if I have never done it before, I am willing to learn and grow.
INTERESTING FACT? // I actually play the tenor saxophone and the reason for why chose this instrument was because it could fix any style of music perfectly. I also do marching band and we march in parades.
FAVORITE CELEBRITY? // I would have to be Nina Simone. She is a singer and the reason for why she is my favorite is because of the hardships she went through as she was becoming a start. Never once did she let those horrible events chain her down, instead she almost resurrected and became a strong women, who is not afraid to be vulnerable in her music.

WHY DID YOU JOIN? // I initially joined key club to help out in my community and also get community service hours.
HOW HAVE YOU CHANGED OVER THE TERM? // I think I have become a better person because I have learned how to interact better with others and build friendships.
IF YOU WERE AN INSTRUMENT? // If I were a type of instrument I would be a guitar because they sound great and they always make people feel happy.
INTERESTING FACT? // An interesting fact about me is that I play the guitar and I also play water polo.
FAVORITE CELEBRITY? // My favorite celebrity is Leonardo DiCaprio because he always manages to make that best out of the character he plays and he is always very classy.

WHY DID YOU JOIN? // I joined Key Club because I wanted to start volunteering and seeing the work people put into events to make them happen. My friends told me how much they enjoyed volunteering and I wanted to experience it for myself.
HOW HAVE YOU CHANGED OVER THE TERM? // I have definitely become more open to things. The new people, tasks, and settings I am confronted with in every volunteer event have broadened my comfort zone. I also have greater respect for my community after seeing the "behind the scenes" of every event and the hard work people put into that event to make sure it all goes smoothly.
IF YOU WERE AN INSTRUMENT? // I think I would be a trumpet because they are loud and so am I.
INTERESTING FACT? // I enjoy writing a lot. I was ahead of my class in fourth grade so my teacher made me write stories to her while the class caught up. Every now and then I go see her at my elementary school and show her my latest written piece.
FAVORITE CELEBRITY? // My favorite celebrity is Johnny Depp because he plays my favorite movie characters. From Jack Sparrow to Edward Scissorhands, he has never failed to bring a smile to my face when watching him act.

WHY DID YOU JOIN? // I initially joined Key Club because it was recommended to me by a close friend of mine at the start of my freshman year as a new way to make friends, have fun, and help the community through volunteering.
HOW HAVE YOU CHANGED OVER THE TERM? // Being a member of Key Club has changed me for the better. I have been able to practice my working and leadership abilities as well as my communication skills. Being a part of Key Club has allowed me to make many new friends; both from Kennedy as well as other schools.
IF YOU WERE AN INSTRUMENT? // If I was an instrument, I would be a ukulele because I'm fun, quirky, easy to be around, and easy to talk to. (Also, I am physically a small person.)
INTERESTING FACT? // I'm currently teaching myself how to play the guitar, I used to be in a sport called Dragon Boat, I love flowers, and I am a Disney enthusiast.
FAVORITE CELEBRITY? // My favorite celebrity is Julie Andrews because while she is a wonderful and beautiful actress, she is kind hearted and incredibly classy. Her singing voice is so calming and pleasant. She is so wonderfully elegant and, to me, she is almost like a real life princess.

WHY DID YOU JOIN? // I initially joined Key Club to do volunteer work and get in volunteer hours. I wanted to show people that I've actually done volunteer work, and with the work, it'll show that I am used to doing different types of tasks.
HOW HAVE YOU CHANGED OVER THE TERM? // I've developed adaptability skills to different environments since there are many types of events that I have volunteered for (such as races, dinners, school carnivals) I also learned how to work and interact with people of all ages. I've helped children with arts and crafts as well as middle-aged adults and old people with cleaning up after an event.
IF YOU WERE AN DRINK? // I would be water because water is my favorite drink. It's healthy for us, and I always look forward to drinking water after I do something physical. It's also refreshing and fulfilling, and water is also versatile.
INTERESTING FACT? // My zodiac sign is a Gemini, and I think astrology is pretty cool. I also like to watch Korean dramas, play volleyball, and eat food. I don't have one drama that I absolutely love, but I really like "Descendants of the Sun," "Liar Game," and "Two Weeks." I'm not picky with what I eat, but as long as it tastes great, I will eat it.
FAVORITE MOVIE? // My favorite movie is "Train to Busan" because it's a very intense and keeps me on the edge of my seat. The acting and character developments are great. The fact, that the infected people are super fast, makes the movie more suspenseful, and I love it.

WHY DID YOU JOIN? // Multiple volunteering opportunities, friends, and Six Flags.
HOW HAVE YOU CHANGED OVER THE TERM? // Much more active in the community and now ready to serve the public.
IF YOU WERE AN DRINK? // Probably water since humans are about 76% of it.
INTERESTING FACT? // I memorized the Lion King script and enjoy cooking. Badly.
FAVORITE MOVIE? // The Dark Knight because he's the hero gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. Plus he's batman.

WHY DID YOU JOIN? // I initially joined because my friend had convinced me to. At first, I was reluctant, but then I eventually gave in and went to check it out.
HOW HAVE YOU CHANGED OVER THE TERM? // Before I joined Key Club, I was extremely shy. It used to take a lot out of me to try and get to know new people when I meet them at events. Now, I can see that I'm more open and outgoing towards others when I first meet them. Key Club has changed me by making me step out of my shell more when it comes to meeting new people and trying new things.
IF YOU WERE AN DRINK? // If I was a drink, I'd be a frappuccino... Just because I like Starbucks.
INTERESTING FACT? // I love to cook. I usually just cook Filipino foods, since that's what I've been taught. But, sometimes I get random thoughts on food and I'd be curious enough to experiment with them.
FAVORITE MOVIE? // My favorite movie would be Toy Story. I think it's because I've watched it so many times, I know the whole script, sadly...

WHY DID YOU JOIN? // My sister was telling me about it too many times that I can't count.
HOW HAVE YOU CHANGED OVER THE TERM? // I haven't changed at all, I'm still me wither way.
IF YOU WERE AN DRINK? // Water because I'm already cool.
INTERESTING FACT? // I sing and dance by myself often.
FAVORITE MOVIE? // I don't have one at all. It's hard to choose just one.

WHY DID YOU JOIN? // I joined Key Club because a few friends that were already members pushed and encouraged me to join. I went to a few events over the summer because of those friends and found that I actually really liked the club and people in general. Everyone was just really accepting and nice to be around.
HOW HAVE YOU CHANGED OVER THE TERM? // Key Club has made an environment where I feel really comfortable, so I think that I've become a lot more willing to put myself out there.
IF YOU WERE AN DRINK? // Orange juice because orange juice is the most amazing drink imaginable.
INTERESTING FACT? // I was in cross country and track for a few years. I really enjoyed it because there really is no other feeling like finishing a race. Running is cool, but AP classes are cooler, so I quit cross country/track and instead joined a wide variety of clubs.
FAVORITE MOVIE? // Django Unchained is my favorite movie because the story is actually really interesting and there's a lot of funny scenes.

WHY DID YOU JOIN? // I wanted to know more about the club and decided to join out of curiosity.
HOW HAVE YOU CHANGED OVER THE TERM? // I have a better understanding of what volunteering at events is like, and have more respect for those who take time out of their day to help others.
IF YOU WERE AN DRINK? // I would be water because water is my favorite drink. It's healthy for us, and I always look forward to drinking water after I do something physical. It's also refreshing and fulfilling, and water is also versatile.
INTERESTING FACT? // I really enjoy academics, and I play videogames on my computer when I have no homework.
FAVORITE MOVIE? // Swiss Army Man is my favorite movie because it has an interesting concept, and builds off of nothing but original ideas. It is creative and is very well done, compared to most big-budget films in the movie industry.

WHY DID YOU JOIN? // I initially joined Key Club because I wanted the opportunity to use my help towards the community's needs in developing a positive change in many lives and organizations. I also believed that it would help me grow out of my shell and expand my ability to meet new people.
HOW HAVE YOU CHANGED OVER THE TERM? // Though it has been literally my first year of Key Club, I experienced through many impacts and growth within the volunteering events I have been involved with. It has made me use as much of my spare time to really help an aspect of the community. I eventually got to know more people from different schools and I am hoping to continue to help achieve through this club.
IF YOU WERE A TYPE OF FRUIT? // If I were a fruit, I would be a mango because they are known to be sweet and tangy and they grow in tropical, warm climates.
INTERESTING FACT? // I enjoy playing a few instruments such as the piano and flute, which is why i like listening to music almost everyday. I also love to spend time with family and friends.
FAVORITE SUBJECT? // My favorite subject is math because in my own opinion, it's easy and straightforward to understand on how to calculate certain things. There really isn't complex reading to do except word problems.

WHY DID YOU JOIN? // I initially wanted to join key club to get my hours in for volunteering.
HOW HAVE YOU CHANGED OVER THE TERM? // I became more active in event and thought of the volunteering fun.
IF YOU WERE AN TYPE OF FRUIT? // I would be a lemon because sometimes I am a bit too sweet and some people take advantage of my kindness, so I become sour on the inside.
INTERESTING FACT? // I like to watch anime and read manga, and I am also in anime club.
FAVORITE SUBJECT? // My favorite subject is science because the experiments that we get to do in class are fun and can have different results.

WHY DID YOU JOIN? // A friend of mine recommended it to me on my freshman year because I didn’t have a lot friends. I also thought it was a great opportunity to meet new people and a way to help out the community.
HOW HAVE YOU CHANGED OVER THE TERM? // Compared to freshman year, I feel as though I’m more comfortable meeting new people especially because of the friends that are in Key club with me.
IF YOU WERE AN TYPE OF FRUIT? // I would be a mango because, in my opinion, it is one of the sweetest fruits you can eat. It is also the first fruit I have ever eaten.
INTERESTING FACT? // I love playing video games, watching movies (especially Star Wars and Lord of the rings), as well as spending time with my friends. I also love to swim, sing karaoke, and watch anime on my free time.
FAVORITE SUBJECT? // My favorite subject would have to be English because I love reading books. I would especially enjoy novels that are science fiction or fiction.

WHY DID YOU JOIN? // I heard about the amount of volunteering the club did and I wanted to be part of all of that.
HOW HAVE YOU CHANGED OVER THE TERM? // I feel like I've gotten more involved with my community, and my passion for volunteering has increased greatly.
IF YOU WERE AN TYPE OF FRUIT? // I would be a strawberry just because I love strawberries.
INTERESTING FACT? // I enjoy drawing when I have the time.
FAVORITE SUBJECT? // From the classes I have right now, I would say my favorite subject is math just because it's a little challenging and it pushes me to try harder. If I were to pick my favorite subject overall, I would pick science (mainly biology) I just find it very interesting.

WHY DID YOU JOIN? // I initially joined key club to hang out with my friends whilst helping out my community.
HOW HAVE YOU CHANGED OVER THE TERM? // Over the course of being in key club I have become more involved in my community and made many new friends not only with people in our school key club but with others in different school's key club.
IF YOU WERE AN TYPE OF FRUIT? // If I was a fruit I would be lychee. The outside is bumpy which makes it look spiky and kind of intimidating. But then unexpectedly the skin of it is a delusion because it's actually soft instead of spiky.
INTERESTING FACT? // I love to travel with my family. We always go somewhere every break like in summer we went to Cancun to jump off cliffs into freshwater lakes and during winter break when we went to Lake Tahoe to try skiing.
FAVORITE SUBJECT? // My favorite subject would have to be film. It's fun to work together with friends and to be in control of something we were proud to make and present to the class in a creative aspect.
